38 social scientists from 16 countries reacted to the
Call for Papers by proposals for contributions to the Linz Conference. On
February 28th, 2004, members of the preparatory group (Winfried R. GARSCHA,
ITH; Marjaliisa HENTILÄ, Työväen Arkisto / Finnish Labour
Archive, Helsinki; Jürgen HOFMANN, Berlin; Sabine LICHTENBERGER and
Brigitte PELLAR, Arbeiterkammer Wien / Viennese Chamber of Labour; Alexander
PRENNINGER, Salzburg; Christine SCHINDLER, ITH) held an intensive discussion
on the proposed papers. The meeting was hosted by the Viennese Chamber of
Labour ("Adolf-Czettel-Bildungszentrum"). Organizational and conceptual
considerations (sufficient time for discussion at the conference, structure
of the topics) were the reasons why also some excellent paper proposals
had to be rejected.
