General organisational remarks

The conference will take place from 29 September to 2 October 2011, in Linz, Upper Austria, in the cultural and educational centre of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labour: Bildungshaus Jägermayrhof, Römerstraße 98, 4020 Linz, Austria.

All listeners are required to register.
Deadline for registration is 15 August 2011.

Regardless of the duration of stay the conference fee is EUR 130,- for congress materials, meals and accommodation (twin rooms) with breakfast, or EUR 80,- without accommodation. The conference fee is to be paid in cash at the conference secretariat in Linz. All participants, also those who have arranged their own accommodation, are requested to register at the conference secretariat at "Jägermayrhof".

Travel expenses can only be refunded in a few, exceptional cases – in order to facilitate contacts to possible new members. Please apply for partial or total travel reimbursements before 1 August 2011, and include a statement with arguments.

These regulations do not concern speakers or members of the preparatory group nor representatives of public authorities.


Information for Speakers, accepted by the Preparatory Committee

ITH does not pay a honorarium for speakers.
Travel expenses will be covered fully or partially according to previous arrangements with the Secretariat, on the basis: second class trains resp. flights (we urge you to check cheap flights soon), public transport between airport and railway station.

Accommodation and meals during the conference as well as the participation in the conference are free. If necessary we arrange accommodation in Vienna or Linz before or/and after the Linz conference. In any case we need the precise dates of your arrival and departure by 15 August 2010.

For the preparation of the conference we ask you to send us an abstract of your paper (max. 1500 signs) and a short biographical notice (3-5 lines) until 31 March 2011. We would like to publish the abstracts on the website of ITH and to distribute them together with the conference program. We shall be grateful to receive your full contribution by 1 August 2011 (speech max. 20 min) at the latest to distribute it to the chair persons and to the translators, who need time for preparation. These drafts can of course be revised for publication after the conference.

The proceedings of the conference shall be published within a year. An international committee will decide on publication of the papers after the conference.

Speakers who need a special invitation for visa and/or for the university are asked to inform the ITH-secretariat in time. Please take into consideration that the issuing of visa can need several weeks! Please let uns know special (technical – overhead, video, etc. – or personal, e.g. handicaps) needs.

Linz is an industrial town some 180 km west of Vienna and one of the histortical centres of Austrian labour movement. The short civil war between Austro fascist militias ("Heimwehren", Home Guards) and the federal army on the one hand and the paramilitary organization of the labour movement, the Republikanischer Schutzbund (Republican Defense League) on the other hand, in February 1934, started in Linz; the surroundigs of the Jägermayrhof were one of the centres of combat.
