Herbert Steiner Prize

In co-operation with the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (DÖW), the ITH awards the Herbert Steiner Prize for scholarly contributions within the research fields “Resistance/Persecution/Exile in the time of fascism and Nazi rule” and “Labour History”.

The prize is awarded for outstanding scholarly contributions not yet published in German or English within the following research fields:

– Resistance/Persecution/Exile in the time of fascism and Nazi rule as well as the post-1945 treatment of these issues; and
– Labour History

The main purpose of the prize is to enable researchers to revise their scholarly manuscripts and make them ready for publication. Contributions are assessed by an independent jury. The Herbert Steiner Prize and the Sponsorship Prizes are awarded. The total prize money amounts to a maximum of 10.000 Euro.

The following application rules had to be fulfilled: A reviewable scholarly manuscript (including diploma or doctoral thesis), abstract of the contribution, C.V. and – if applicable – list of publications. You’ll find more information about the Herbert Steiner Prize here
