Executive committee of the ITH
President:
Berthold Unfried, born in 1960, is attached
to the Institute for Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna.
He has taken part in the ITH conferences since 1983 and is represented in
the executive committee since 1990. The subjects of his scientific research
and publications include the history of the Labour movement in ancient Austria,
the cultural history of Stalinism, practices of institutionalized self-thematization
(self-criticism), forms of representation of the past and the political
use of history, "Aryanisation" and restitution of NS-era assets.
He is responsible for the strategic orientation of the ITH, its scientific
contacts and outward representation.

General Secretary:
Eva Himmelstoss, born in 1964, studied history
and German studies at the University of Vienna. She worked in media, publishing
and project management, did advertisement and public relations in the art
and cultural area and in the private sector. For three years she was manager
of a multimedia enterprise. Besides, she worked as a translator of scientific
publications and did editorial work for historical publications.
In the ITH she is responsible for organization, communication, press work,
homepage, all tasks of management of the association, in cooperation with
the president.

Treasurer:
Winfried Garscha, born in 1952, studied
history and Slavic languages at the University of Vienna. Since 1974 he
takes part in ITH’s Linz conferences.
He has been member of the ITH executive since 1978 – first as deputy
Secretary, since 1990 as Vice President, and since 1994 as Treasurer. Since
1988 he has been staff member of the Documentation
Centre of Austrian Resistance (fields of activity: archive and coaching
of scholarly projects), since 1998 he has been co-director (together with
Claudia Kuretsidis-Haider) of the Austrian
Research Centre for Post-war Trials.

Vice-treasurer:
Korbinian Schleicher
is born in 1982. His main tasks in the ITH are financial management and
accountancy, furthermore he directs the conference secretariat during ITH's
Linz conferences.
